๐ŸŒด Golden Costa Salou Review: Adults Only, Beautiful Pools & A Week Of Actual Peace

๐Ÿฅ‚ First Impressions

Some hotels make a great first impression.

Golden Costa absolutely nails it.

From the moment we arrived, everything felt polished, modern and incredibly well looked after.

Check in was quick, friendly and effortless, exactly what you want after travelling.

We were even greeted with a glass of champagne.

Now that's my kind of paperwork.

The lobby immediately tells you what sort of hotel you're staying in.

Bright.

Modern.

Spotlessly clean.

The kind of place where you're almost scared to put your suitcase on the floor because everything looks too nice.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ The Room

Our room perfectly matched the rest of the hotel.

Modern.

Minimal.

Comfortable.

No unnecessary nonsense.

The bathroom felt luxurious, the bed was incredibly comfortable and everything was immaculately clean.

One thing that genuinely surprised me was the TV.

Netflix.

Prime Video.

YouTube.

And, somehow, UK Freeview channels.

I'm still not entirely sure how they managed that, but it meant I could catch up on British TV whilst sitting on a balcony in Spain wondering why I'd voluntarily returned to British television.

The only issue?

The daily air conditioning negotiations.

Every holiday follows exactly the same script.

I set the room to "Arctic Expedition."

Stacy quietly changes it back to 22 degrees.

I lower it again.

She raises it again.

By the end of the week we'd basically recreated the Paris Climate Agreement.

๐Ÿณ Breakfast

Breakfast was included with our package and was genuinely excellent.

It's one of those buffet breakfasts where you convince yourself you're only going to have something light.

Thirty minutes later you're carrying three plates and wondering whether fruit juice counts as one of your five a day.

There was an "Eggs Your Way" station where the chefs cooked fresh eggs however you wanted them.

Loads of fresh fruit.

Smoothies.

Fruit juices.

Pastries.

Continental options.

Bacon.

Sausages.

Beans.

Everything you'd need to build what I'd describe as a "semi full English."

Unfortunately...

No hash browns.

Now I'm not saying I nearly demanded a refund...

...but I'm not saying I didn't consider it either.

Hash browns are a breakfast fundamental.

Let's sort that out, Golden Costa.

๐ŸŠ The Pools

The outdoor pool is beautiful.

Plenty of comfortable sunbeds.

A lovely atmosphere.

Spotlessly clean.

But the real star of the show?

The rooftop pool.

The views across the coastline are fantastic and it quickly became our favourite place to relax with a drink.

Speaking of drinks...

The rooftop bar serves cocktails for around โ‚ฌ10.

Strong cocktails.

The sort that make you confidently say:

"We'll just have one."

Nobody has just one.

๐Ÿง– The Spa

The spa isn't included, costing an additional โ‚ฌ12 per person.

Pay it.

Honestly.

It's worth every cent.

We had the entire place to ourselves.

Thermal pools.

Sauna.

Steam room.

Experience showers.

An hour of complete peace and relaxation.

Compared to UK spa prices, it felt like an absolute bargain.

It's the perfect way to unwind after a day exploring Salou or Tarragona.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Adults Only (And Why That's Brilliant)

Golden Costa is an adults only hotel.

Which means...

No screaming children.

No inflatable unicorns drifting across the pool.

No sprinting through corridors at 7am.

No mysterious sticky fingerprints on absolutely everything.

Turns out...

If you don't invite children to a hotel...

It stays in pretty good condition.

Who knew?

Don't get me wrong.

I love kids.

I've got some.

I just don't necessarily want to spend my holiday listening to somebody else's practising for Britain's Got Talent at full volume beside the pool.

The atmosphere here is peaceful.

Relaxed.

Exactly what an adults only hotel should be.

๐Ÿ“ Location

The location couldn't really be much better.

The beach is less than a hundred metres away.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Salou is only a short taxi ride one way.

Tarragona is a short taxi ride the other.

Whether you want beach days, sightseeing or nightlife, everything is easily accessible.

It's the sort of location that lets you do as much or as little as you want.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Final Verdict

Golden Costa genuinely impressed us.

Beautiful hotel.

Friendly staff.

Comfortable rooms.

Fantastic rooftop pool.

Great breakfast.

Excellent spa.

A brilliant location.

It's one of those hotels where everything simply works.

Would I stay again?

Absolutely.

The only condition...

Please add hash browns to breakfast.

Then it'll be perfect.
